Below are some handy guides to help ensure your installation is carried out as smoothly as possible.
Installation guides
Fridge Freezers
When installing a fridge freezer, start by choosing a level, well-ventilated spot away from direct sunlight and heat sources like ovens. Ensure there’s enough space around the unit for air circulation—typically 2-3 inches at the back and sides. Once positioned, adjust the leveling feet to keep the fridge stable. Connect the appliance to a dedicated power outlet and wait a few hours before loading it with food to allow the internal temperature to stabilize. For models with water or ice dispensers, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for connecting the water line, ensuring no leaks.
Gas Cookers
For gas cooker installation, first ensure that the area is well-ventilated and the space complies with safety regulations for gas appliances. Place the cooker on a level surface, leaving adequate clearance around it, especially near flammable materials like cabinets or curtains. A certified gas engineer must connect the cooker to the gas supply using the correct fittings and check for leaks. Once connected, test the burners and oven for proper ignition and flame control. Additionally, ensure that a carbon monoxide detector is installed nearby for safety monitoring.
Ovens & Hobs
When installing ovens and hobs, ensure the space is prepped with proper ventilation and fire-resistant materials around the area. For the oven, position it in a dedicated, level cabinet space with enough clearance around the unit. Securely plug the oven into its power source, or for gas ovens, have a qualified technician connect it to the gas supply. For hobs, place them into the pre-cut countertop, ensuring a snug fit. For electric hobs, connect to the electrical circuit, and for gas hobs, a gas-safe engineer should handle the gas connection. Always test all functions and ensure safety standards are met.
Range Cookers
Installing a range cooker requires a spacious, well-ventilated area with adequate clearance from walls and cabinets. Position the cooker on a level surface, and if the unit is dual-fuel, ensure both the gas and electric supplies are properly accessible. For gas connections, a certified engineer must securely link the cooker to the gas supply, while electric connections should be handled by a qualified electrician. Once installed, check the oven, burners, and all features to ensure they function correctly, and verify that a carbon monoxide detector is installed nearby for safety.
Laundry & Dishwasher
For laundry appliances and dishwashers, begin by positioning the units on a level surface close to the necessary water and electrical connections. Ensure there’s enough space behind for water hoses and the drain line, avoiding kinks in the hoses. Connect the appliance to the cold water supply using the provided inlet hose, and securely attach the waste hose to a drainpipe or sink trap. Plug the unit into a grounded outlet. For dishwashers, ensure proper alignment with the countertop and cabinetry. After installation, run a test cycle to check for any leaks and proper functionality.
Televisions
When installing a television, first choose an optimal viewing location that provides a clear line of sight and minimal glare from windows. For wall-mounted TVs, ensure the mount is securely attached to wall studs or masonry for stability, and that the screen is positioned at eye level. If placing on a stand, ensure the surface is flat and sturdy. Connect the TV to power and any necessary devices such as streaming boxes, gaming consoles, or sound systems. Hide cables for a clean setup, and adjust the picture and sound settings to enhance your viewing experience.
